Living here in Connecticut we sometimes take things for granted that are right in our own backyard. Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport is a perfect example of this. You see it off the highway while driving to work on 95 every day, but do you ever stop to see what they have going on? Probably not.
With they Sound Tigers getting ready to kick off the hockey season this weekend, Webster Bank Arena has lined up some great events this year. Right in Bridgeport!
1. Sound Tigers 2014-2015 season. (TICKETS)
Even if you aren’t a crazy hockey nut these games are just straight up fun to go to. They do a fantastic job of making feel like you are watching an actual NHL big league game. And sometimes you kind of are since the Sound Tigers are the top affiliate of the New York Islanders. Players tend come on and off the Island all year long. The best part… it’s WAY cheaper than going to an NHL game. If you have kids you know how expensive going to sporting events can get. Not here.
GO SOUND TIGERS!
2. The Circus! Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey (TICKETS)
As you know, the circus travels all around the world. But how many people can say they went to see the circus in the birthplace/hometown of P.T. Barnum?! Only us who live right here in Connecticut. That’s who. The circus rolls into Bridgeport at the end of the month October 23rd-26th.
3. Aretha Franklin – March 19th (TICKETS)
R-E-S-P-E-C-T!! The Queen of Soul is coming to Bridgeport!
Another great perk of Webster Bank Arena. It’s not just all hockey and the circus. They get legit big name concerts that come through. When you think about it, it makes total sense for artists to stop off and play a show here on their way up or down 95 from Boston to NYC.
Last year’s highlight was when Elton John took the stage in Bridgeport. This year they are doing all they can to one up themselves by bringing Aretha Franklin in March. Apparantly she has been doing some fun covers at her live shows too. Everything from Adele to Pharrell Williams. Plus all her hits.
Should be a party come March 19th. Tix went on sale this week. Get ’em before they sell out.
4. Harlem Globetrotters 2015 World Tour – November & February (TICKETS)
A basketball tradition like no other. The Harlem Globetrotters have been entertaining people all over the world for generations now.
I went last year at Webster Bank Arena and it’s so much bigger and crazier than I remember as a kid. They put on an amazing show and are laugh out loud funny. Awesome event for the kids. Or even if you don’t have kids, but just like to laugh and watch some truly spectacular basketball trick shots.
