Father’s Day is around the corner, and when most people think about the holiday, they think beers and BBQ, sunglasses and sandals. They think about hamburgers and hotdogs, coleslaw and corn on the cob.
But what about the other 364 days out of the year? When my mom was out and my dad had to cook dinner, I was stuck with five options, and five options only.
- “Let’s go out to eat”
My dad has no idea how to cook. His parents still can’t even boil water on a stove, and when I used to stay at their apartment some weekends in the summer, we went out for every single meal, except for breakfast, which consisted of Pop Tarts and undercooked eggs. My dad is the same way, and the most popular option for him was to take us to the local diner, Subway, or to Whole Foods to make a “salad” that consisted mostly of chicken nuggets and Yucca fries.
