1. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Never Let Me Go is a dystopian science-fiction novel set in England. Friends Kathy, Tommy, and Ruth learn the hard, frightening truth about their existence while at their idyllic boarding school. It’s thrilling, exciting, and frightening learning of the kids’ impending doom, and I haven’t read it in nearly 4 years. The book was made into a movie in 2010 with a star-studded cast in the starring roles, including Andrew Garfield as Tommy, Carey Mulligan as Kathy, and Kiera Knightly as Ruth, and earned Mulligan the BIFA Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a British Independent Film.
