Well, if you ever wanted to own some of the remnants of Hollywood’s golden age, now’s your chance. Katharine Hepburn’s iconic summer getaway is back on the market!
Fox 61 says a builder based in New York purchased the home in 2006 for $6 million, a year after Hepburn’s death.
However, Frank J. Sciame Jr. is parting with his piece of history because he doesn’t spend nearly enough time in it. He tried selling it three years ago, but took it off the market shortly after. Once, Taylor Swift even considered buying it! But now, he’s ready to say goodbye to it once and for all.
Yep, you can scoop up this legendary Old Saybrook home for a lofty $11.8 million! Good news, too, because it’s $2 million less than the original selling price.
The three story house, affectionately called Paradise by Hepburn herself, is a treasure trove of perks. Not only is there a possibility her spirit wanders the halls, it’s rife with scenic views and space. It includes a private pond, dock, and 1.5 acres along the scenic Long Island Sound. As an added bonus, you get 220 feet of beach all to yourself! Plus, a pretty nice view of a golf course.
Also, Sciame renovated the heck out of the house, so it’s basically brand new on the inside but still carries that Hepburn charm on the outside.
The idyllic home offers 6 bedrooms, 7 full baths and one half-bath, seven gas fireplaces, and over 8,000 square feet to run around. Also, the house is practically flood-proof.
And, for extra $5 million, you can also purchase a three-bedroom home on an adjacent property. You know, if you want your in-laws to stay as far away from you as possible when they visit! It was built by Sciame back in 2015. It boasts an extra 3 acres, too.
