If you’re looking to sign up for TSA Precheck at the AAA this week, you’re going to have a bit of a delay. While it was orginially scheduled for this week, it has been rescheduled due to unknown mechanical issues.
There is currently no new date at this time. Once rescheduled, it will be offered at both the Hamden and the Branford offices.
Now, you may be wondering: what is TSA Precheck?
According to an article on WTNH entitled AAA to Reschedule TSA PreCheck Enrollment After Mechanical Issues, TSA Precheck is a program that expedites TSA Security Check for low-risk travelers. The article states that travelers who have TSA pre-check won’t have to “take off your shoes, belts and jackets,” as well as remove laptops from bags. Furthermore, the article says that travelers won’t also have to remove all of their liquids as well.
With that being said, it is for domestic flights only.
To apply, all you need is a government issued ID. Furthermore, there will also be a fingerprinting process as well.
The price for TSA Pre-Check is $85 for five years. Currently, there are more than 200 airports and 54 airlines that provide this service. One of them is Bradley International Airport. However, other local airports such as LaGuardia and JFK offer them as well.
If you’re unable to make it to these locations, don’t worry. You’ll be able to apply online on TSA’s website as well. However, if you apply online, the process is a little different. The site promises that the application will take a little over five minutes. Then, you need to have a 10-minute appointment for a background check and fingerprinting.
With that being said, TSA Precheck is something to look into. And, stay tuned for when you’ll be able to sign up at these two AAA locations.
