After months of reading about Connecticut’s drought, we finally got some rain this week.
Sure, wet weather is rarely pleasant, but at least the recent storms would come with a silver lining. Maybe, just maybe, we would stop hearing about how our long showers and extra loads of laundry are slowly killing the state.
No dice, folks.
Despite two days of rain, we’re still facing a drought, according to The New Haven Register.
In fact, the report said it would take many more storms of the same magnitude to get the water levels back where they need to be.
I don’t know what I’m hoping for anymore. I hate rain. Snow is often an inconvenience. And sure, fixing the drought is important, but there’s only so much “bad” weather I can take before it just becomes depressing.
I’m done doing rain dances. If two days of annoying rain couldn’t even make a dent, then it’s not worth it. I’ll do my part, shorten my showers, and shut my water while I brush my teeth. But everybody loves the beautiful, sunny weather, so that’s what I’ll be rooting for.
It might not be so great for the environment, but it’s the only thing keeping me sane now that the sun sets before 5PM.
