CT is responsible for the newest entrant in the modeling game. His name is Zach Miko and he hails from Stratford. His claim to fame is that he is the first plus-size male model for agency IMG. They created a new category they call “Brawn”.
From the article:
“The fashion industry is evolving at an unprecedented rate,” IMG Models president Ivan Bart told TODAY in a statement. “IMG Models seeks to inspire people to feel body positive, no matter their size, color, or age.”
I don’t begrudge this guy his new found success but I don’t consider him plus size. At 6’6″ 275 might he be overweight but not by much. If they really want an average chubby guy to model they should call me. Under 5’10” and closing on 200lbs ever day! A few more Cadbury Creme Eggs and I am there. Call me IMG!
This is me. I am 6’6″. I am 275lbs. And I and Happy. I am from Stratford CT. I have lived in New York City for almost 7 years. I met, fell in love, and married the love of my life @laurakristenx here. I am a classically trained actor by The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I am a permanent acting student of Terry Schreiber. I am an Eagle Scout. I have the greatest and closest friends imaginable. In the summer of 2015 I was given the opportunity to be a model. I thought it was nothing but a pay check. A month later thanks to @chubstr I realized that it was so much more than that. I was given the most overwhelming support. I learned that who I was and what I looked like was ok. Who I was was attractive and valid. I met and spoke with the most incredible beautiful people who shaped my mind and my perception of life and beauty like @whitneywaythore @notoriouslydapper @dexrated @simkosays. I was mentioned along side beauty and positive body image pioneers like @tessholliday @theashleygraham @meghan_trainor and @meghantonjes. I was interviewed by @newyorkpost @peoplemag @huffingtonpost @mic_news @entertainmenttonight and @goodmorningamerica. I have been given a platform and a voice almost overnight. In 2016 I want to make everyone who as ever felt less than, to feel the way I felt in the fall and winter of 2015. I am honored to be a part of the movement of #bodypositivity #NoBs #effyourbeautystandards and #bootyrevolution. I will not forget that in 2016. This is the year I hope that every person who has ever been called fat, or ugly, or a freak, feels happy with who they are. Thank you for making that feeling possible for me. I will do everything I can to make it possible for you.
