After almost eight years off of the air, reality show The Hills will be making its’ comeback.
According to a press release on MTV, the new show, The Hills: New Beginnings, will “reunite original cast members, alongside their children and friends,” as well as “follow their personal and professional lives as they reside in Los Angeles.” Among those returning are Heidi, Stephanie, and Spencer Pratt, Justin Bobby, Audrina Patridge, Frankie Delgado, and Jason Wahler.
But, they are not the only ones returning. In an Instagram Post yesterday, Whitney Port announced that she’ll be returning as well. In the post, she said that she’s excited to go back and make up for my insane looks” from the original.
The show is slated to premier in 2019, and was announced at the 2018 VMA awards with a short teaser video. The cast of the show — minus Whitney Port — was also in attendance of the award show.
But, we can’t help but notice that quite a few beloved members are missing. Beloved cast members Lauren Conrad, Brody Jenner, and Kristin Cavilliari will be missing from the show’s reboot.
According to an article on Deadline entitled ‘The Hills’ Is Heading Back To MTV With ‘New Beginnings’, it is unclear if they will be making a return. Conrad is currently busy raising her son and designing her collections, while Cavilliari has an E! show Very Cavilliari.
Needless to say, it sounds like season six of the show all over again. However, that doesn’t seem to be a bad move. The article says that nostalgia is scoring big on MTV reality. For instance, Jersey Shore Family Vacation was the channel’s “top rated” series in adults 18-34. Therefore, a reboot of The Hills can have that same effect.
With that being said, I am still looking forward to seeing a beloved show that I have watched religiously in my teens.
