I scream, you scream, we all scream — for free ice cream! Yes, you read that right — free ice cream. Ben and Jerry’s is hosting a Free Cone Day tomorrow and is giving away cones. However, if you’re not in the mood for a cone, you can also have it served in a cup.
Free Cone Day held annually to celebrate their anniversary. The day, according to their website, is their “favorite” way to show their love to their customers. After all, there’s no better way to celebrate then with Ben and Jerry’s, right?
It’s pretty easy to participate in Free Cone Day. All you have to do is head to the Ben and Jerry’s store in New Haven (located at 159 Temple Street in New Haven), and wait in line. Once you get to the front, ask for your favorite flavor and enjoy! And, if you’re still hungry (or you want to try a different flavor), you can get back in line when you’re done.
And, if you’re lactose intolerant like I am, don’t worry. The nondairy flavors are also included in this, so you can get your hands on a cone as well. And, let me be honest, there’s a lot of them to choose from. When you’re lactose intolerant, you’re pretty limited when it comes to ice cream flavor choices. However, Ben and Jerry’s offers nine different flavors — some of them mirroring their famous pints. These flavors include: Caramel Almond Brittle, Peanut Butter Half Baked, Cinnamon Buns, Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chunky Monkey, Coconut Seven Layer Bar, Coffee Caramel Fudge, and P.B. & Cookies. I’ve had Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Caramel Almond Brittle, and P.B. & Cookies, and they are delicious.
I attended last year’s Free Cone Day, and it was a lot of fun. When I went at 4 p.m. with a friend, the line wasn’t too bad. After about a 1o minute wait, we walked out with some free ice cream.
So, if you’re looking for something fun and inexpensive to do with a friend tomorrow night, why don’t you grab a free cone? This is the perfect chance to catch up with that friend that you’re always meaning to catch up with. You can even make it a fun evening by grabbing dinner beforehand. But, whatever you do, don’t forget to snap a photo of your ice cream and post it using the hashtag #FreeConeDay.
