The most surprisingly funny movie of 2012 got a sequel. This weekend, 22 Jump Street bromances its way into theaters across the nation.
I expected absolutely zero from 21 Jump Street. I expected the same kind of dumb jokes I had seen a million times and I expected to immediately be sick of the troupey as hell dynamic Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill were sure to employ. I was dead wrong at every level. 21 Jump Street was great.
A well balanced effort with phenomenal supporting performances from Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Ice Cube, Ellie Kemper, Nick Offerman, and Rob Riggle, 21 Jump Street was a big summer blockbuster comedy hit leaving 22 Jump Street with huge shoes to fill.
What is it about: After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college.
Should you see it: Yea, I think this one deserves a look. The biggest reason is because Hill and Tatum have nothing to prove. This is just going to be fun. Jonah Hill gets nominated for a major award every time he does dramatic work. Channing Tatum has emerged as a bankable box office superstar. 22 Jump Street was probably their “vacation” movie, so I expect this just to be fun.
