I’m going to do everything in my power to keep this to less than 2500 words of just straight up fan-boy run on sentences.  In an effort to keep it relatively short and sweet, let’s cut right to the chase: Captain America: The Winter Soldier debuts this weekend at the US Box Office.

Over the last 14 years, the comic book movie has become a staple of the cinema world.  Seemingly every comic book property from Spider-Man to Scott Pilgrim has gotten a treatment and a shot at box office glory.  Kevin Feige, a C-level decision maker at Marvel Comics, recently said he envisioned a world in the not too distant future when we could be seeing four Marvel movies a year.  That may seem like overkill, but not when it comes to the big ones.  And believe me- fan boy sensibilities aside- Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the big ones.  Possibly the best Marvel movie to date- and that is saying something.

The Winter Soldier will directly set up the next Avengers movie, so everyone is banking on this one being a needle-mover for the Marvel brand, as well as proof positive that “Summer Blockbusters” can do just as well in April.  Get ready for movie season to go all year long.

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.

YOU SHOULD SEE IT IF: You want to see the movie of the summer a few months early.  Reinvention is probably too strong of a term, but The Winter Soldier will definitely raise the bar for comic book movies in the same way Iron Man and The Dark Knight did.
