One week removed from Captain America: The Winter Soldier cleaning house at the box office we are looking at one of the most classic movie battles of all time: Kid Movie vs. Dad Movie.  It’s a tale as old as time.  Parents control the cash but kids can make their parent’s lives hell when they don’t get to see the movie they want.  What are you to do?  Are Kevin Costner and Denis Leary really worth one second of hearing children whine about not seeing animated birds dance?  Let’s head to the tale of the tape:

What’s it About: At the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver has the opportunity to rebuild his team when he trades for the number one pick. He must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with NFL dreams.

Should You See It: Kevin Costner is in the middle of a comeback.  He has had more work in the last calendar year than he has had in the last five.  And high profile work at that: Man of Steel, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Three Days to Kill, and now Draft Day.  All face-on-poster work.  Not all of it has been Dances with Wolves or Bull Durham, but hey- what is?  If you liked Moneyball and want a much easier to digest and quippier version, then look no further than Draft Day.  Plus it’s the Cleveland Browns.  If anyone needs a spotlight on them it’s Cleveland.

What’s it About: It’s a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids after they’re hurtled Rio de Janeiro to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all: his father-in-law.

Should You See It: If you have kids, my guess is you won’t have a choice.  They’re going to go bananas until you bring them to see this movie.  So it’s not really a question of “if” you should see it, it’s more of a question of “when” and “how many times” you will see it.  Enjoy animated Anne Hathaway, parents!
