I honestly don’t know how parents nowadays do it. In a world where tablets, smartphones, and big screen TVs are commonplace, it would terrify me to see my kid glued to the screen of their choice during every last one of their waking hours. I don’t have the science to prove it, but that much screen time cannot be good for a developing brain.
Unfortunately, their attachment to the latest gadgets seems inevitable. And while proper brain development might be the biggest concern, there are other things to worry about. You know, like letting a small child handle a very expensive device without proper supervision.
One dad learned the hard way how that exact situation can end pretty badly. His son was playing with his iPod and, wouldn’t you know it, he fumbled the darn thing and cracked its screen. Take a look:
But the best part here is how quickly that kid went from realization to panic to executing the perfect plan to cover his own butt. “Hey Dad, how did you iPod get cracked?” That’s right, little one, just play dumb. He’ll never know what happened.
That right there is the beginnings of an evil genius. He knows there were no witnesses. He knows that even though the glimmer of hope is thin, there’s a chance he can get away with this. And he moves quickly to do exactly that. Little did he know, that very device that he loved so much would betray him by recording a video of the whole thing. Our little troublemaker might be clever, but he’s got a long way to go if he wants to break his dad’s stuff and avoid timeout!
