Congrats, Connecticut! We’re productive!
The Martin Prosperity Institute, an offshoot of the University of Toronto that seems very official, looked at the United States to determine how productive we are. And they came up with a specific number.
Measured as per capita real economic output, or GDP, productivity averaged $36,154 per person in the United States. But when you look at specific regions, Connecticut does really well.
Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk is the third most productive region in the entire country – earning $80,158 per person! Granted, we have a lot of banking and finance here, so that number is gonna be a little skewed. But that doesn’t stop Connecticut, so let’s look at Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford – #19 on the list at $57,088.
All in all, we’re doing pretty well for ourselves. Now, if only our elected officials could do the same.
