Football season may be done and the Superbowl may be over, but for dog-lovers, the competition has only just begun. 128 dogs from Connecticut will be competing in this year’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
The dog show will air from February 11th to 13th and will take place in New York City. There will be about 2,800 dogs competing in this year’s event.
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is one of the most prestigious competitions for dogs and their owners, alike. Dog owners come from far and wide to bring their dogs to compete in various competitions. The dogs can win a multitude of awards in their specific categories, such as “Best in Breed”, “Best in Group” and ultimately the biggest award of the night, “Best in Show”.
According to The Hartford Courant, there is a multitude of dog breeds from Connecticut that will be competing. Among them are Portuguese Podengo Pequenos, a Tibetan Spaniel, a Bernese Mountain Dog, and many more. These dogs and their owners come from all over Connecticut.
So, while the Superbowl may not be everyone’s thing, who can resist watching puppies compete with each other? The dogs will compete for the grand prize this month, and, the competition airs on FOX sports, FS1, and NatGeo WILD.
