Not everyone is getting the day off for Labor Day.
In California, Montana, and other western states, firefighters from the region and across the country will be working hard to prevent the spread of dozens of raging wildfires.
Late last week, a second group of Connecticut firefighters and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials went to Montana to join the effort, The New Haven Register reported. They hailed from across the state, including Guilford, Farmington, and West Hartford, according to the report. In all, there are 20 of them going to join more than 30,000 who have already responded.
So while we enjoy the long weekend and the final days of summer, take a moment to remember not everyone gets to. Some people keep working, in ways we’d rather not, so that we can all have a safe day off from work.
