Well, this definitely explains a lot.  Like, how the heck certain people managed to make it into political office.  Apparently CT is home to the 2nd highest amount of psychopaths in America.

This report came out of Men’s Health, who got their hands on a relatively new study about where the highest amount of psychopaths live.  As for who claimed the #1 spot, it wasn’t even a “state” that appeared at the top of the list.

Only Washington D.C. managed to outperform us.  While that means we technically are the state with the most psychopaths, our nation’s capitol takes the cake when it comes to overall amount.

So who took the time to figure this out?  The study looked into the “psychopathic personality traits” of the population.  Well, if you consider studying a bunch of personality surveys from back in 2013, then there you go.  But, it did provide a bit of foundation for these “researchers” to stand on.

First off, the study author looked at personality tests that measured certain characteristics such as agreeableness. and neurotic behavior.   You know those tests that present you a question and you rank how much you agree or disagree with it.

So, they probably used exams that asked, “You find it difficult to introduce yourself to other people… agree or disagree.”  So scientific.

A psychopath isn’t necessarily a Charles Manson.  In fact, they’re people who have an inflated sense of self, little regard for the well being of others, and are somewhat full of spite.

So, this study collected the results of those who seemed mean, antisocial, or lacked empathy.  They then surveyed where these people lived and determined their ranking based on that.

Obviously, this study isn’t peer-reviewed… yet.  But, considering psychopaths LOVE politics, there might be some truth there.

Study author Ryan Murphy, an economist at Southern Methodist University, added:

“I had previously written on politicians and psychopathy, but I had no expectation D.C. would stand out as much as it does.”

While CT ranked 1.89 on his scale, D.C. ranked a whopping 3.48.

All the states making the top 5 tend to have some political significance in America, too.

Behind CT comes California in 3rd place.  New Jersey landed in 4th place in this study while New York and Wyoming tied for 5th.

As for the least psychopathic state?  That’s West Virginia.  Apparently people are pretty happy and semi-innocent there.  Wonder what their secret is…

As for worrying about your personal safety, no need.  Only a handful of psychopathic people are dangerous.  In addition, they only make up about 0.6% to 4% of America’s population.  So chances of you living next to one are slim to none.

Anyways, do you agree with this survey or do you find something wrong with the findings?  I still think it explains SO MUCH about our current state of affairs.
