He may not be a household name, yet, but for many in the Nutmeg State he already is. Joey Logano may have moved to Georgia, however, he caught the bug for car racing as a youngster in Middletown, CT. He first attained national recognition for being the youngest to win a Nationwide Series Race at just over 18 years old in 2008. Now at a mere 24 years young, Joey has captured the racing world’s most coveted crown by winning the Daytona 500!
It isn’t often that CT gets to celebrate in the national spotlight. We no longer have a “Major League” or “Top Level Professional” sports team, and we take it for granted that UCONN Basketball will win EVERY season. This year only the women are holding up their end of the bargain.
With that exception Joey Logano has given this state something it has not had… well ever! A CT born NASCAR driver has won the most well known race in popular culture! (Probably most well known) No it wasn’t New England, nor was it Boston, and it definitely was not a New York victory. CT alone is a champion for the weekend in NASCAR! Congratulations Joey Logano and thank you for giving Connecticut something to be very proud of ! (for once)
