As gas prices continue to drop, Connecticut rail fares are about to go up. Seems a bit backwards to me. I thought the whole idea of commuting via the train was to save money, but that appears to be changing.

Don’t get me wrong I like the idea that we’re getting like 400 new trains, but the timing seems very odd. Also, will a measly 1% rate increase actually pay for them all? Seems doubtful.

Having lived in CT all my life I’ve noticed that we are very bad at calculating what things actually cost and how long it will take to get jobs done (Q Bridge ring a bell?).  Relatives and friends of mine that commute to and from NY, will probably still be taking the train because our highways are a mess. Thank you to those commuters, you will be paying for our new train set!
