Does Anyone Care That Hall Has a Show in CT?
I thought Daryl Hall was a woman. Turns out that I was thinking abut Daryl Hannah who is an actress- but Daryl Hall is a singer. Apparently he’s half of the 80’s duo Hall and Oates. There’s a good chance you may have known the difference. If you did there is also a good chance that you might care that he’s renovating his house in Connecticut. If you’re like me and didn’t care about Hall in the 80’s, then you probably don’t care that he’s learned how to swing a hammer. The DIY Network bets that you’ll be fascinated. (DIY is the Do It Yourself Network if you’re not familiar)
They’re launching a new show that will debut in 2014 called “Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall” (Clever!) where he’ll renovate and restore his 200 year-old home in Sherman, CT. When Hall isn’t singing “Maneater” he’s obsessed with history and historical homes. DIY Network is really into taking celebrities that haven’t mattered in a long time and having them restore houses. For example, DIY network also has a show called “Vanilla Ice Goes Amish” which follows Vanilla Ice while he builds a house without power tools. (I’m not going to lie, I am obsessed with the thought of this show. I’ve never actually watched it but I plan on finding YouTube clips ASAP) DIY has also had Rev. Run from RUN D.M.C. film a season where he renovated his house in Jersey.
With the absolute exception of Vanilla Ice attempting to go Amish, I certainly have no interest in watching Daryl Hall renovate a house. But I’ll be honest, I have no interest in watching anyone renovate a house unless it happens to by my own. Yet, if DIY thinks that they need celebrities renovating their homes to make quality TV, here are a few ideas I have for shows:
*MC Hammer Renovates His Homeless Card Board Box
*The Olsen Twins Make Bored Faces And Wear Old Lady Clothes While Hanging Art in Their Hipster Apartment
*Naomi Campbell Beats Her Workers While They Re-do Her Mansion
*Sinead O’Conner Comes Out From Underneath The Rock She’s Been Living… Then Paints It.
Note the use of the word “magical” by Vanilla Ice in this clip… Amazing.
