It was a story that went nation wide for how ridiculous it was, the Torrington man who wanted police to get 15,000 likes on his mug shot on Facebook for him to turn himself in.

Jose Simms was wanted on failure to appear charges, multiple charges of that in fact, and he promised he would show up if they got the likes.

Surprise, surprise, with the charges of failing to appear looming over him…Jose failed to appear for a month for jail.

Then, unexpectedly, on Monday. He called the police department in Enfield and asked them, like a child wanting a ride to a friend’s house, to pick him up.

Simms was charged, yep, you guessed it, failure to appear and is held on a $30,500 bond. He is set to appear in court today.
