Facebook announced future partnership with Uber and soon users will be able to request an Uber using Facebook messenger if patent application is approved. Facebook also benefits from the innovative business known as Uber for the use of Event Pages.
Users will soon be able to car pool and use uber for Facebook Event Pages, a page that creates events and bring groups together.
For example, if one is invited to an event on Facebook Event Pages and another is unsure if they are able to attend the event due to transportation issues or vice versa, car pooling is an option. There will be an option to respond as “Going but not driving” or “Going and driving” which will let those invited to the event who needs a ride or offering a ride. Furthermore Uber offers information on public transportation so people of the same party can ride the bus or train together.
Facebook submitted its patent application to the U.S Patent and Trademark Office July 2014, which approximately takes up to 18 months for approval.
However, in the meantime, Uber is available in majority of Connecticut such as the New Haven County, Fairfield County, Hartford, and New London widely increasing within Connecticut in the last six months.
