Just in time for a season of being trapped inside your house, Facebook announced their new feature “Safety Check” which posts a status update letting your friends and family know you’re okay after whatever disaster has struck you.
This is probably the only time people want Facebook invading their location settings and it’s actually pretty cool. Based on your location, Facebook will determine if you’re in the area of an earthquake, hurricane, typhoon, etc. It then sends you a message asking if you’re okay. Click “I’m okay” and it auto posts for you since, you know, you were just attacked by the Earth. For once, a pretty cool update from Facebook.
