Fairfield County is getting crowded.  New U.S. Census Bureau data shows it’s one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the nation.

Meanwhile, the rest of the state whimpers.

Adding a staggering 31,000 residents in the past five years, Fairfield County boasts a robust 3.4% growth.  Meanwhile, Hartford’s population eked out a meager 0.2% gain; just over 1,800 new residents.

As for the rest of the state? The picture couldn’t be anymore different.   What happened?  Did Connecticut spring a leak?
