Finding the perfect Christmas gift for anyone is hard. We scour Google to find that special something. So, what is the most Googled gift in each state?
Luckily, the people at artificial tree retailer, Treetopia, had the same question. They looked at Google Trends from 2016 to find what Christmas gift was searched most in each state.
Of course, tech reigned supreme. Not surprisingly, the iPhone showed up in 11 states, including Connecticut. Bluetooth speakers and video games popped up in four and five states, respectively.
However, some states Googled some… interesting gifts. Montana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri all Googled “of the month clubs” the most. Clark Griswold eat your heart out. In the words of Cousin Eddie, “It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”
But, should it really be so hard to shop for people we know? In 2015, the Needle reported three out of four consumers were stressed about gift giving. Nearly 79 percent of consumers were stressed about finding the right gift for someone. That’s insane.
Before you get stressed, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. According to the National Retail Federation, 66 percent of consumers want gift cards. Yes, it’s true, just load a couple bucks on a piece of plastic, and, chances are, your relative will be appeased.
Gift cards are great, if you ask me. They save me a trip to Kohls to brave the mile-long return line. Although, if you want to buy me an iPhone, I won’t complain.
