You may remember that around this time last year, a ranking of the most and least patriotic states came out. We wrote about it here on CT Boom. Connecticut did not do well.
But we were hopeful. We had seen Connecticut get hit time after time with bad rankings on all of these lists, and last year we hoped a poor patriotism position would inspire the state to rally. We would wave our flags higher and drink our domestic brews faster and grill our meat meatier. It would be the 4th of July to end all 4th of July’s and America would see we were the most patriotic state in the union.
Well, apparently, that didn’t really happen.
After ranking as the 44th most patriotic state in 2015, the new list is out and we fell all the way to 49th, right behind New York and only ahead of New Jersey, according to WalletHub.
Wow. That is truly a bummer, especially right before the 4th of July. There’s no rally cry here. There’s no President Thomas Whitmore to give an inspirational speech. There’s only our sad patriotic efforts and no excuses for them.
But you know what? That’s ok! You don’t have to be patriotic to enjoy 4th of July. Does it help? Sure. Doesn’t it really matter though? Nope.
The 4th of July is great for the following reasons: A day off from work. Warm weather. Grilling. Beer. Fireworks. Family. Friends.
Those are the things that make this holiday great. So yeah, maybe we’re not so patriotic here in Connecticut, but we know how to party and this July 4th, we’re ready to prove it. Cheers!
