Just in time to ruin your vacation plans gas prices are on the rise in CT. AAA Northeast reports we have seen a 13 cent jump from just a week ago with the average gas price at $2.60 per gallon in CT. Our price sits 14 cents over the national average. Hooray!
The increase was expected as we switch over from winter blend gasoline to summer blend. Yes, that’s a real thing mandated as part of the Clean Air Act. I have no idea what the difference is, I just know it costs me more in the summer.
According Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy, our price jump is also attributed to “over-sensitive traders, who bid oil prices higher last week after oil inventories rose at their smallest amount since January.” GasBuddy is a real-time online fuel price tracking website. Yes, that is a thing.
Prior to the increase we ranked 13th in gas price but with thins jump we are in the #10 position. A few more increases and we could be #1!
