If you’re in the New Haven area this upcoming weekend and love music, you’re in for a real treat. There are not one, but two, free outdoor concerts this weekend. Yes, you read right. They are both completely free.
For all of the blues lovers out there, I have some good news for you. The Little River Band will be closing this year’s Hamden Arts Commission‘s Summer Concert Series. The show will be on Friday night, at Hamden’s Town Center Park. The opening act, the Cobalt River Kings, will go on at 7:30 p.m., with the main act going on at 8:15 p.m. In addition to great music, there will be over a dozen delicious food trucks to chose from — including my favorite, Sugar Bakery’s the Cupcake Truck.
And, the best part? There’s free parking at the event. You can park at the Hamden Middle School, or in the Miller Library.
However, if you’re more into pop music, then you’ll want to head to the New Haven Green on Saturday night. The second installment of New Haven’s Music on the Green will continue with 80’s pop singer, Taylor Dayne. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. Like the Hamden Concert, there will also be food trucks on site as well.
But, what’s pretty unique about this concert series is the sweet deal that comes along with it. If you’re from the New Haven area like I am, you know that parking can be expensive. However, from 5 p.m. – 12 a.m., Park New Haven is offering $5 Music on the Green Parking for the Crown Street and Temple Street garages.
Honestly, I am excited for both shows. And, let’s be honest. You really can’t go wrong with a free concert. So, with that being said, grab some friends and get ready to rock out this weekend.
