The Golden Era For Comic Fans?

The Golden Era For Comic Fans?

Growing up I wanted to be a comic book artist. I doodled in class, took private art lessons on the weekends and collected tons of comics. At one point I must have had in-store subscriptions to over fifty titles. My love of comics never faded but reality set in and I realized I just wasn’t a great artist. I put away my pencils and just enjoyed the medium as a fan, not a contributor.

As a fan I was occasionally treated to a big-screen adaption of a comic I enjoy only to see it bastardized and destroyed. There were a few golden nuggets, Blade and The Crow spring to mind, but for the most part comic book movies were terrible. But no more! In the post-Noaln Batman/Avengers era comic fans are being treated like royalty and having tons of projects served up to them.

Here are just a few of the films lined up for next year for the comic/sci-fi/fantasy fan:

Captain America: The Winter Solider

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Thor: The Dark World

Plus you have

300: Rise of an Empire

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

and the RoboCop reboot

Now, not all of these will be good films. If I had to choose I would say that RoboCop and 300 will tank. Either way 2014 is going to be a good year.
