Guess which celebrity is going to jail in Danbury? None other than The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s own Teresa Giudice. In case you missed it, “FCI Danbury” (Federal Correctional Institution of Danbury) has recently become the “it” jail in the country because of the Netflix hit show “Orange is the New Black”. In the show, the female correctional facility is based in Litchfield, NY- but the truth is that the series is based on a NY Times Bestselling book titled (you guessed it) “Orange is the New Black” which is a biography about a woman named Piper Kerman who spends a year at FCI Danbury and writes about the relationships she made with the women also serving.
Teresa Giudice was sentenced earlier this month after being convicted of 41 counts of fraud. Teresa was sentenced to complete 15 months of jail time while her husband, Joe Giudice, was sentenced to almost four years. The saving grace was that they do not have to serve simultaneously which means each parent would have the chance to be the stay at home parent to their four children.
Teresa is scheduled to start her sentence at the beginning of January. According to sources, she won’t actually be wearing orange. The inmates wear khaki, grey, white, and pastel green. She also will work one of the prison’s factory jobs to earn money that will go towards paying off her restitution. She is allowed $320 to spend every month at the prison store. I can’t imagine what Chanel products they have available there, so I’m assuming she’ll be buying Dove soap and Pert Plus.
She isn’t the only famous face that has recently been spotted at FCI Danbury. Lauryn Hill recently completed three months there for tax evasion.
