You’ll be seeing a bit more pink around the town of Hamden this month.
As a part of “paint Hamden pink,” two Hamden police cruisers have gone pink for the month of October to bring breast cancer awareness across town.
According to the police department’s Facebook page, the goal of doing so this was to “raise awareness for the cure and prevention of breast cancer” as “early detection is key in combating this disease.”
Pink Police Cars are not the only way Hamden is trying to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. Mayor Curt Balzano Leng said this is one of the many ways “the town is trying to help” during the month of October.
Paint Hamden Pink kicked off at the town’s Farmer’s Market on Sept. 28. Throughout the month, Leng said that over 100 Hamden businesses will be “helping to raise awareness.”
“Our community comes together for causes that are important,” Leng said. “Hamden, as a Town and certainly as a business community, have shown support for the outstanding efforts of Nancy Juliano, who is raising money and awareness for ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ with the American Cancer Society.”
Kudos to Hamden for paying it forward for this terrific cause!
