America’s in the midst of a sugar revolution.  But, honestly, none of us are complaining because this is the best time to be alive.   Especially if you love milkshakes.   It’s the ultimate treat.

But, before I jump into that, we need to explore what’s exactly going on in our country.   Because it’s kinda weird.  But, it’s also wonderful.  It’s a very strange time we’re in.

Food is being reinvented faster than the government can spend a billion dollars.   Sometimes, we’re not entirely sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing (see: $100 gold-encrusted donut.)

But I digress, food has radically changed in the past five years.   Or, at least its presentation. Or just how many things you can combine into a glass or plate.

First of all, social media has ushered in an era of unholy kitchen concoctions.  From cocktails to dinner hacks, anything is fair game for reinvention.  Especially desserts.

Secondly, it’s no secret that Americans have a massive sweet tooth.  They also love bright and colorful things, especially the edible kind (see: Unicorn Frappuccino.)

So, restaurants and cafes all over the nation are competing over who can create the most ridiculous sugar overload.  Strangely enough, some restaurants are getting into the market just to satisfy this new craving.

The market is so crazy viable, it’s like the cupcake boom of 2007.  You know, when the recession hit, the housing market crashed, and everyone and their mom decided to sell cupcakes to cope?   Remember Crumbs?

So, this is basically next level stuff.  I can only imagine what would happen if the sugar craze and the cupcake boom happened at the same time?

Well, one thing’s for certain, I wouldn’t be a size 2.  But, I really don’t think I’d care. In fact, I’d probably be a lot happier.

Anyways, I’ve stalled long enough.  Let’s talk about these ridiculous milkshakes that are taking over social media.  The craze really started in New York City (which is pretty much the origin of practically everything you love.  Like Spider-Man.)

But, these over-the-top milkshakes struck a chord with the American masses.  I mean, what’s not to love about a  cold silky-smooth beverage that tastes like happiness and wonder?  Nothing, I tell you.  I can’t think of another example.

So, everyone and their mom are now hyper-focused on banking on the milkshake craze.  Some are successful while others… are equally as successful.  Something something about milkshakes bringing boys to the yard?

But, no one has perfected what New York Started other than Elm Street Diner in Stamford.  Their crazy creations are highlighted in the recent Chowdaheadz recap.  This place has been kicking since 1987, so this family-owned operation knows what success tastes like.

And they add a mountain of whipped cream to top it all off.

So, if you love their donuts, you can also get that on a milkshake.   Cinnamon Toast Crunch?  Yeah, they can fix you up.  They will make all your dreams come true.  In abundance.

It’s like nothing is off limits for these guys and it’s beautiful.  They even decorate the glass your shake comes in with edible treats.  Like copious amounts of chocolate and cookie dough.

Here, behold some documented evidence of their wonderful creations.  Be honest with me on this.  Are you ready to make the trip to Stamford to get on the hype train.

Beats going all the way to NYC for one.  Something tells me, these shakes are way more special, anyway.

Here’s hoping Guy Fieri and his frosted tips hear of this magical place. Because Elm Street Diner deserves every ounce of spotlight.

So, road trip?   My mouth is still watering.  Gimme those milkshakes!
