I admit it – I’ve been one of those people who has been all about this warm weather. Since Thanksgiving, I’ve been perfectly happy to not wear a jacket every day.
But it’s Christmas morning – and I’m actually bummed out by this weather.
I guess that the holiday had to actually happen to make me notice, but now I’m eagerly awaiting a true winter.
We all have a tendency to have very short term memories, because early Winter 2014 was exactly the same as early Winter 2015 (okay…maybe it was a bit colder) but we didn’t have a legit storm until after the new year.
So, since we know the weather will get here eventually, it’s time to start thinking about the cold weather so we can actually enjoy it. I’m talking skiing, snowboarding, tubing…and we might as well stay local since Vermont isn’t having a great winter either.
I know Connecticut isn’t really known for Winter sports, but if you don’t have the time, money, or experience, and because the warm weather is making our local mountains hurt big time, once the new year rolls around, let’s opt to stay local:
- Mohawk Mountain – Cornwall
- Mount Southington – Plantsville
- Powder Ridge – Middlefield
- Ski Sundown – New Hartford
- Woodbury Ski Area
