For such a small state, Connecticut has three crime-ridden cities that seem to make national lists of the most dangerous cities, most murder per capita, and so on on the reg. Looking at you Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport.
An interactive map created by The Trace now lets you see just how many shootings happened around you in the past year. So how’d Connecticut’s worst offenders do?
21 shootings. 4 fatal. 17 non-fatal.
21 shootings. 6 fatal. 15 non-fatal.
10 shootings. 1 fatal. 9 non-fatal.
According to Movato.com the top ten most dangerous places in our state are:
1. City of New Haven
2. City of Hartford
3. City of Bridgeport
4. City of New London
5. City of Waterbury
6. City of New Britain
7. Town of East Hartford
8. City of Meriden
9. City of Derby
10. Town of Manchester
This is based on places with 10,000 people or more according to the 2010 U.S. Census and the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report for murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, theft, and vehicle theft. Seems about right to me.
You can put in your address here and see how many shootings there were in your neighborhood, which is obviously what you’re doing right now.
