In honor of day one of the Travelers Championship getting underway today at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, we look at Connecticut’s other legendary golf moment…

Oh “Happy Gilmore”…the memories from a long forgotten time (read: the ’90s) when Adam Sandler was making some of the funniest movies in human history. “Happy Gilmore” is a film that still holds up today, long after Sandler’s days of totally selling out and making unwatchable garbage.

Take for instance, this still hilarious scene at the Waterbury Open – a fictional stop along the movie’s Pro Golf Tour:

But that’s not the most important video that you’ll see today. On the contrary, it’s this version of “Happy Gilmore” as if it were an old school 8-bit NES game, and a game which gives Waterbury its proper due:

And don’t try to tell me it’s Waterbury, Vermont or Nebraska or some such – it’s Connecticut and you know it.
