With the warm weather finally kicking in, it’s safe to say that Christmas is the furthest thing from our minds. However, Christmas lights are once again twinkling in Olde Mistick Village. A movie starring Melissa Joan Hart is filming this week.
According to an article on WTNH entitled Christmas Movie Comes to Old Mistick Village, Melissa Joan Hart will be playing a woman named Kate, who is a baker. The article says that she’s given up on Christmas, until someone gives her a nutcracker, and falls in love.
The article says that this is the first movie to be shot in Old Mistick Village. It goes onto say that some of the village’s unique shops will appear in the film’s outdoor village. And, while the article says one of the empty storefronts was “transformed into the bake shop” that Hart’s character owns.
With that being said, the article says that only the exterior shots were filmed in Old Mistick Village. The interior, according to the article, were shot in Essex.
Now, this isn’t the first movie that Melissa Joan Hart filmed in Connecticut. Last year, she filmed two — Lifetime’s A Very Merry Toy Store, which was shot in New Britain, and Hallmark Channel’s Romance at Reindeer Lodge, which was shot in Hamden, North Haven, and Wallingford.
It’s safe to assume that the Sabrina The Teenage Witch star likes being in Connecticut. And, according to her Wikipedia page, she actually lives in Westport.
With that being said, maybe Connecticut will be known as the backdrop for shooting Christmas movies? Who knows, but I’m sensing a trend here. Maybe it’s going to become a Christmas tradition for Connecticut residents to watch movies set in their home towns?
However, there is no air date for the movie at this time. But, like last year, I’m sure I’ll be tuning in.
