April 7, 2016 was set to be a glorious day for the city of Hartford. It was supposed to be the day that professional baseball returned to Connecticut’s capital. Tickets were printed, jerseys were sold, sponsors were lined up…but there was no baseball. Dunkin’ Donuts Park wasn’t ready.

Lawsuits galore, ridicule, an entire season spent on the road – but finally it’s Opening Day for the Hartford Yard Goats! Serious this time.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m super excited for the Hartford Yard Goats to finally be here. But just for fun let’s go into the Wayback Machine and look back at some of the struggles we needed to overcome because people were super pumped for it…
