Do you know about “Tips for Jesus?”

Well, who ever he (or she, or they) is, they’re truly a saint.

That’s because since the end of the summer, whoever it is has been leaving ABSURDLY HUGE tips for servers throughout the nation, and it’s all been documented on an appropriately named Instagram account.

Having worked as a server in a restaurant as recently as just about a year and a half ago, I can assure you that if you’ve never done it, it can be a real grind and a tough job. Especially when you’re dealing with fussy customers who are just impossible to satisfy, no matter how hard you might try. When you’re left with an awful tip after you’ve busted your ass, I swear it’ll make you feel like chasing that dinner party down and confronting them as to why they’re such cheapskates. The rule is 15-to-20% people, and if you’re giving anything less than that, you’re quite simply an asshole.

Anyway, knowing how hard servers work, it really does make me happy to see that whoever this Tips for Jesus is, is leaving tips that range from $500.00 on a $24.00 bill (!) to a tip for TEN GRAND on a bar bill that was close to 3k.

If you add up all the gratuity that’s been left by the person or persons behind Tips For Jesus, they’ve given out close to $55,000.

Now look, under normal circumstances I’m not for anyone shoving religion down my throat, but after working a double at a packed restaurant on a Friday night, you bet your sweet ass that you could buy my faith for a $10,000 tip.

Thanks for the great article Murray. This reminds me of a Mark Twain quote that says, "Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."  I was lucky enough to be gifted by the amazingly generous Tips For Jesus "gifters" who were indeed a blessing in disguise. I was utterly shocked and in fact speechless when they left me a four figure tip recently. I could not hold back the tears and am still in shock and disbelief...Thank you so much Tips For Jesus, I can't believe this is a real "pay it forward" story, I do hope that it does start a domino effect to not only try to do something nice for servers and restaurant personnel but also to encourage  kindness to all people we interact with in everyday life:)    God Bless, to all the persons behind Tips for Jesus, I will never forget this over the top generous act of kindness and will continue to try to contribute the most good I can to this world.

This is the most awesome and refreshing story I've heard, especially in today's world where you hear so much negativity. "Tips for Jesus" is a great example of how we should rich out and help others when we can.. The bible tells us in Acts 20:35 "I have shewed  you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive".. We must know that our giving does not have to be on this level or even financially. You should be generous with whatever you have, Humanitarian outreach can be done in many different ways. Time, love, kind words, encouragement, acceptance, a ride, food, shelter, clothes, etc, are all  ways that we can reach out and touch someone else's life; Of course not everyone have this kind of money to share. That's why it is imperative that we learn to help and or make a difference in other ways. Giving unlocks OUR blessings.. God is very pleased with "Tips for Jesus." Because when God blesses us in abundance that blessing is NOT just for ourselves we are supposed to reach out and be a blessing to someone else just as God as done for us. However, most wealthy people are not usually generous to those in need, that's why the bible tells us in Mathew 19:24 "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." I encourage all of you to stop and think about how YOU can make a difference in someone else's life, even if it's seemingly small.. God bless!

Hopefully this person stops by The Cadillac Ranch in Southington and leaves Amanda and Leeann a nice Christmas tip like that !!! Well I'm sure it's wishful thinking but one can always hope.
