It was a big weekend in CT for fans of MMA. Friday night saw the UFC Fight Night 50 at Foxwoods and Bellator 123 at Mohegan Sun. While UFC is the champ of MMA organizations it was Bellator’s Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal who delivered the quote of the night.

After his KO win over Dustin Jacoby King Mo said “What state is this? Connecticut? They can all kiss my ass.” Now, this wasn’t an unprovoked attack. The crowd at Mohegan had been all over Mo during the fight for no engaging enough and spending more time slipping and taunting. Mo said that just made him goof off more. Which, of course, led to more boos from the already hostile crowd.

King Mo is no stranger to receiving abuse from fans. He caught flack from fans at his last appearance here in CT and that seems to have stuck with him saying “They don’t like me here. Because I don’t like them.” But CT isn’t the only place Mo catches heat. He is a pretty divisive personality in the sport. What does he chalk that up to?

“If you keep it real, you’re going to be polarizing.”

Yup, keeping it real. Watch this majestic highlight video and see if his skills are enough to make you like him even after his CT diss.

And this video is a cautionary tale for King Mo.
