WFSB reports that Seven female Democratic lawmakers introduced five bills aiming to protect women’s reproductive rights. The legislation is specifically designed to uphold abortion rights along with women’s health rights.
It’s not just Democrats talking about the issue, either.
Four Republicans have their own bills to introduce. The proposal getting the most heat is the one that would require an ultrasound before terminating a pregnancy. Another bill wants parents to be notified if their child is getting an abortion.
It’s been a few years since abortion rights were debated at the state capitol. Considering the national dialogue that sprang from the last election, this issue will be sticking around for a while.
