With the Oscars behind us and the 2016 year in movies officially underway let me be the first to wish you a Happy New Year!
My friends and I have this superstition. The first song you hear at the stroke of midnight as New Year’s Eve turns into New Year’s Day sets the tone for the entire year. Applying the same superstition to movies, the quality of 2016 is all riding on this weekend’s cinematic experience.
Here are the movies opening the weekend of March 4th:
LONDON HAS FALLEN
WHAT’S IT ABOUT: In London for the Prime Minister’s funeral, Mike Banning discovers a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders.
WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT
WHAT’S IT ABOUT: A journalist recounts her wartime coverage in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
WHAT’S IT ABOUT: In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a fugitive con artist fox and a rookie bunny cop must work together to uncover a conspiracy.
If you’re looking to really game the superstition system, you could always go see a few ringers, namely Deadpool– one of the biggest comic book movies of ALL TIME– or The Witch which looks horrifyingly scary, and not like the fun type of jump scare scary. The psychological type of scary that you can’t shake for years.
