Tonight is a very special night for the Milford community and Jonathan Law High School.
Connoisseur Media’s STAR 99.9 WEZN and 99.1 WPLR, which both broadcast out of Milford, have teamed up with WFSB Channel 3 to present “Music for Maren,” a free tribute concert in memory of Jonathan Law High School student Maren Sanchez of Milford, CT, who was stabbed to death on April 25th while at school.
Music for Maren starts at 7pm tonight live from Jonathan Law High School. The concert is for students and faculty only, but you will be able to listen to the whole thing live on STAR 99.9 and watch a live stream of the concert right here on CT BOOM starting at 7pm.
Performing will be the band A Great Big World, who are a duo from New York that are best known for their breakout hit Say Something with Christina Aguilera.
“These radio stations broadcast out of Milford and we all felt so strongly that we had to do something for our town,” says Operations Manager Keith Dakin. “Epic records and A Great Big World stepped up and said that they wanted to be included in a tribute. We just hope we can bring a little comfort to everyone suffering.”
Maren Sanchez was a 16-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed by her classmate in the hallway of Jonathan Law High School on Friday April 25th, reportedly because she turned down his invitation to the junior prom.
“This is such a heartbreaking situation that we wanted to do something to help the students come together,” says General Manager Kristin Okesson. “Milford is our home and we are proud to offer this show to help the school honor Maren. The responsibility these stations have to serve their community is of the utmost of importance to us.”
