NBA star Andre Drummond was born in Mount Vernon, NY in 1993 but he soon moved and began his basketball career in Hartford, Connecticut. He attended Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford and after two years switched to St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut. He was ranked the #1 player in the class by ESPN in 2011. He then shocked many people when he decided to attend UCONN when many others thought he would either take two years at a prep school or attend schools like Kentucky or West Virginia. After his freshman year, he entered the 2012 NBA draft. He was selected by the Detroit Pistons and the rest is history while his future is still being written.
Nevertheless, according to this video, he fondly remembers where it all started… Here in Connecticut.
Oh, and some random girl asked him how many retweets she needed so that he’d go to prom with her… He said 12,000 and even though she didn’t get it- he still took her. Nice hat. We should all wear shoes with our initials on them.
