A new policy that is being considered in Woodbury about students and teachers being always able to text each other at any time.
The Republican-American reports that Glenn Jameson, a student at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, told the school board in January that texting would create a more efficient learning environment.
Jameson says students don’t always check their email, and they can’t easily ask a last-minute question on an assignment.
Board members feel very strongly against this issue, saying that creating an environment where teachers are on call every minute of every day is unrealistic. Another board member says that “teachers being contacted by students on their personal cell-phones is a big question mark.”
