If you’ve been waiting to add a new fuzzy family member to your pack, this is your weekend.  Because Cathy Kangas, Founder and CEO of PRAI Beauty, will take care of your adoption fees at two local animal shelters.

It’s seriously the coolest thing I’ve read all day.

So, Norwalk Plus reports that the beauty guru will sponsor all adoptions as part of her national “Free the Shelters” campaign.  The animal shelters she chose to sponsor are PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Society) in Norwalk and DAWS (Danbury Animal Welfare Society.)

This event runs from tomorrow until the animal shelters close Sunday night.  However, be sure to complete an Adoption Application on the PAWS website or DAWS website before visiting them!

You’ll then meet with a counselor who will, hopefully, connect you to your purr-fect new family member!  If you make that special connection, you get to go home with your new fur baby on the same day.  How cool is that?

By waiving adoption fees, the animal shelters still receive the funds necessary to keep their operations running, too.  It just means you get to spend the money you would have spent on the adoption fees to spoil your new friend at the pet store.

Or, you can even choose to donate the fee anyway!  Either way, this week is the perfect week to add a new member to your family.

Also, clearing the shelters gives more homeless animals a shot at life.  About 2.4 million perfectly adoptable and healthy cats and dogs– about one every 13 seconds – are put down in U.S. shelters each year.

Cathy Kangas founded PRAI Beauty.  It’s a New Canaan-based business.  You can catch Kangas’ skincare products at Lord & Taylor and also buy it on HSN or QVC.

As for why Kangas started sponsoring pet adoptions?  Well, she’s a total animal-lover.

She told Norwalk Plus:

“I am delighted to work with PAWS and DAWS in sponsoring free adoptions in my home state of Connecticut. Shelters should be short-term foster homes rather than a long-term jail sentence for companion animals. It is my vision to roll out ‘Free the Shelters’ across the nation, going from shelter to shelter to help animals find their forever home.”

So, you make space for another animal hoping to find their new forever home.  Also, you can’t deny the special bond you make with your rescue pet.  I swear, they know you saved them.

And they’ll repay your kindness with unconditional love, laughter, and snuggles.

Do you own a rescue pet?  I can’t tell you how much my life changed for the better when I adopted my little weirdo in 2012.

Here, allow me to brag about my beautiful cat, Phoebe.
