Some towns have problems with money, and others still with crime. North Haven has a bicycle riding problem and it involves kids and the main roads.
According to the First Selectman Michael Freda,
“This has been a growing problem here in town that has become a public safety hazard.”
He says that “Our Police Department has instituted a policy in which individuals riding bicycles recklessly in the middle of the road, doing wheelies, putting themselves and motorists at risk, will be stopped. Once they are stopped, our Police officers will take their names and addresses, and visit their parents.”
These kids doing wheelies down the main roads are putting motorists, and their own lives in danger. Driving is already hard enough, we don’t need more distractions.
