Be sure to tune into the Hallmark Channel and Lifetime during this holiday season. You might be seeing a few familiar sites in their Christmas movies, as not one, but two movies were shot here in Connecticut this holiday season.
Both Lifetime’s A Very Merry Toy Store was shot in New Britain and Hallmark Channel’s Romance at Reindeer Lodge was shot at select locations in Hamden, North Haven and Wallingford.
The first movie, A Very Merry Toy Store premiered on Lifetime on Nov. 26. The cast of the movie had some familiar faces. These include Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez. The film had several scenes that were shot around town, and even mentioned some of the locations.
Furthermore, Hallmark Channel’s Romance at Reindeer Lodge was shot at a house on Ridge Road in North Haven. According to an article on WTNH entitled Hallmark Channel, Lifetime Film Movies in Connecticut, the house is for sale. However, the sellers loaned it out to the production company. According to the article, since snow has yet to fall in Connecticut, the production company transformed the house a lodge in Vermont in the wintertime — complete with fake snow.
The article went onto state that while many of the scenes were shot at the house, some were shot in Hamden, North Haven, and Wallingford. There was even one scene that was shot in New Haven’s Tweed Airport.
Beth Broderick will be in both movies. However, if her name doesn’t ring a bell, maybe her previous work will — she was Aunt Zelda from Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty excited for to see Romance at Reindeer Lodge. I mean, how cool is it that there was a movie shot in the area that I grow up with?? Not going to lie, it’s pretty awesome.
