It’s now been six years since the beginning of the recession, and things seem to be improving. That could just be because the weather is getting better, but that’s neither here nor there.
What is important to know is what we’re most unique at doing as a state. Most employed people in the United States work in office and administrative support. But what do we in Connecticut do more than anyone else? What job do we have the highest concentration of people doing more than anyone else in the nation?
Well, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, we have more Actuaries per capita than any other state – 5.17% more.
That’s not to say that we have the most Actuaries – there’s certainly going to be more in California because the population is so much bigger. But, based on state size, we’ve got a higher percentage.
Now you may be saying to yourself “hmm…interesting” or you may be like me and saying “what is an actuary?” According to Wikipedia, it’s a business professional who deals with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty. Remember Edward Norton’s character in “Fight Club”?
