The rumors of “Palcohol” have been gaining traction the last couple of days after it was reported that the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau actually approved rum and vodka varieties of powdered alcohol. Here’s a couple things to know about Palcohol.
Founder Mark Phillips came up with Palcohol because he wanted a portable alcohol
Because who doesn’t. He says he came up with the idea after he “wanted a way to enjoy an adult beverage after long hours hiking, biking or camping without having to carry around heavy bottles.”
Palcohol can fit in your pocket
Just like a little nip that can be confused for cocaine or anthrax.
There will be 6 varieties
Palcohol will come in Vodka, Rum, Cosmopolitan, Mojito, Powderita and Lemon Drop.
This isn’t the first time powdered alcohol was a thing
Back in the 1970s, General Foods Corp. created basically the same thing absorbing the ethanol onto some sort of carbohydrate powder.
You shouldn’t snort it
All warnings aside, this is a really slim chance idiots don’t start doing this.
Despite approvals, it really isn’t approved…huh?
The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau says the approvals “were given in error”. Looks like you’ll have to wait a little longer for your grown up Crystal Light.
