The dream of owning your own private island is often tied to immense wealth and a single-propellor seaplane touching down off the coast of some Caribbean paradise.
Well, good news! Now you really only need one of those things to own a private piece of land surrounded entirely by water.
Right off the coast of Connecticut, a Thimble Island known as Potato Island is currently on sale for a sort-of-reasonably-priced $7,350,000, according to The CT Post.
For that price, you get 11 acres, a 3,800 square-foot house, and complete isolation. The place is only reachable by boat and there are no neighbors. Just you, the dangers of rising ocean levels, and crushing loneliness! Of course, you could probably shake all of that off with a dip in the hot tub.
Honestly, if I had that kind of money I’d buy this in a heart beat. Sure, in 150 years it’ll probably be gone and underwater. But in the meantime I would live it up, have island parties during the summer, and just avoid the insanity of the world during the cold months. People are kind of overrated anyway, and a private island is the perfect way to avoid them.
Unless there’s no Internet. If they haven’t figured out a way to get some WiFi on Potato Island, that’s a dealbreaker.
